We created YouTube Kids to offer children a more suitable platform that allows them to explore the world on their own in a fun and easy way, and which allows their parents and other adults involved in their education to accompany them. more easily in discovering new areas of interest.

We make every effort to ensure that the videos offered on YouTube Kids are suitable for families, and we protect the youngest Internet users thanks to a system based on parental comments, manual evaluations as well as automatic filters developed by our engineers. However, no system is perfect, and inappropriate videos can slip through the cracks. That is why we are constantly striving to improve our safeguards and offer parents new features that allow them to personalize content according to their family’s needs.

Personalize your child’s experience with parental controls

Limit usage time: Set a limit on the time your child can spend watching videos to encourage them to change activities.
Stay on top of what your child is watching: Just visit the “Watch Again” page to see what videos your child has watched and what interests they have discovered.

Block content: Block videos or channels that you don’t like so that they no longer appear in the app.
Report Videos: You can report inappropriate content to us for review. The dedicated team reviews reported videos 24/7.

Each child is unique, create a profile that looks like him

Create up to eight different profiles, with viewing preferences, video recommendations, and personalized settings. Choose the “Approved content only” mode or select your child’s age range (“Toddlers”, “Little ones” and “Older ones”).

If you turn on “Approved content only” mode, your child will only have access to videos, channels, and collections that you have manually approved, and they will not be able to search for videos. The “Toddlers” mode offers content that promotes creativity, play, learning and discovery. The “Little ones” mode allows children aged five to seven to satisfy their curiosity with a large selection of songs, cartoons, craft videos, and more. As for the “Older ones” mode, it offers children between the ages of eight and twelve the possibility to search and discover additional content, such as popular music videos or videos about video games for children.

YouTube Kids contains ads that allow the app to be offered for free. Your child is also likely to see videos from YouTube creators that feature commercial content, which is not strictly speaking ads. The Privacy Notice for Google Accounts Managed in Family Link describes our privacy practices when your child uses YouTube Kids with their Google Account. When they use YouTube Kids without signing in to their Google Account, the YouTube Kids Privacy Notice applies.
